2026-01-24gpu: nova-core: add FalconUCodeDescV2 supportTimur Tabi
The FRTS firmware in Turing and GA100 VBIOS has an older header format (v2 instead of v3). To support both v2 and v3 at runtime, add the FalconUCodeDescV2 struct, and update code that references the FalconUCodeDescV3 directly with a FalconUCodeDesc enum that encapsulates both. 2026-01-23rust: io: separate generic I/O helpers from MMIO implementationZhi Wang
The previous Io<SIZE> type combined both the generic I/O access helpers and MMIO implementation details in a single struct. This coupling prevented reusing the I/O helpers for other backends, such as PCI configuration space. Establish a clean separation between the I/O interface and concrete backends by separating generic I/O helpers from MMIO implementation. Introduce a new trait hierarchy to handle different access capabilities: - IoCapable<T>: A marker trait indicating that a backend supports I/O operations of a certain type (u8, u16, u32, or u64). - Io trait: Defines fallible (try_read8, try_write8, etc.) and infallibile (read8, write8, etc.) I/O methods with runtime bounds checking and compile-time bounds checking. - IoKnownSize trait: The marker trait for types support infallible I/O methods. Move the MMIO-specific logic into a dedicated Mmio<SIZE> type that implements the Io traits. Rename IoRaw to MmioRaw and update consumers to use the new types. 2025-10-16gpu: nova-core: vbios: Rework BiosImage to be simplerJoel Fernandes
Currently, the BiosImage type in vbios code is implemented as a type-wrapping enum with the sole purpose of implementing a type that is common to all specific image types. To make this work, macros were used to overcome limitations of using enums. Ugly match statements were also required to route methods from the enum type to the specific image type. Simplify the code by just creating the common BiosImage type in the iterator, and then converting it to specific image type after. This works well since all the methods common to different BiosImage are called only during the iteration and not later. Should we need to call these common methods later, we can use AsRef and traits, but for now not doing so gives us a nice ~50 negative line delta versus the existing code and is a lot simpler. Also remove the now obsolete BiosImage enum type. 2025-08-12gpu: nova-core: vbios: change PmuLookupTableEntry to use size_ofRhys Lloyd
Annotate the PmuLookupTableEntry with an `#[repr(C, packed)]` attribute. Removes another magic number by making the struct the same size as the data it needs to read, allowing the use of `size_of::<PmuLookupTableEntry>()` [acourbot@nvidia.com: remove `dead_code` expect to fix `unfulfilled_lint_expectations` lint] Reviewed-by: Alexandre Courbot <acourbot@nvidia.com> Signed-off-by: Rhys Lloyd <krakow20@gmail.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20250718073633.194032-3-krakow20@gmail.com Signed-off-by: Alexandre Courbot <acourbot@nvidia.com>

12 is identical to the value of `size_of::<BitHeader>()`, so use the latter instead. 2025-06-23gpu: nova-core: update and annotate TODO listAlexandre Courbot
A few new dependencies are required to remove some of the TODO items: - A way to safely convert from byte slices to types implementing `FromBytes`, - A way to obtain slices and write into a `CoherentAllocation`, - Several improvements to the `register!()` macro, - Alignment operations to powers of two, and an equivalent to the C `fls`, - Support for `xa_alloc` in the XAlloc bindings. Some items have also become obsolete: - The auxiliary bus abstractions have been implemented and are in use, - The ELF utilities are not considered for being part of the core kernel bindings anymore. - VBIOS, falcon and GPU timer have been completed. We now have quite a few TODO entries in the code, so annotate them with a 4 letter code representing the corresponding task in `todo.rst`. This allows to easily find which part of the code corresponds to a given entry (and conversely). 2025-06-23gpu: nova-core: extract FWSEC from BIOS and patch it to run FWSEC-FRTSAlexandre Courbot
The FWSEC firmware needs to be extracted from the VBIOS and patched with the desired command, as well as the right signature. Do this so we are ready to load and run this firmware into the GSP falcon and create the FRTS region. 2025-06-23gpu: nova-core: vbios: Add support for FWSEC ucode extractionJoel Fernandes
Using the support for navigating the VBIOS, add support to extract vBIOS ucode data required for GSP to boot. The main data extracted from the vBIOS is the FWSEC-FRTS firmware which runs on the GSP processor. This firmware runs in high secure mode, and sets up the WPR2 (Write protected region) before the Booter runs on the SEC2 processor. Tested on my Ampere GA102 and boot is successful.
